Welcome to REDCap!

REDCap is a secure web platform for building and managing online databases and surveys. REDCap's streamlined process for rapidly creating and designing projects offers a vast array of tools that can be tailored to virtually any data collection strategy.

REDCap provides automated export procedures for seamless data downloads to Excel and common statistical packages (SPSS, SAS, Stata, R), as well as a built-in project calendar, a scheduling module, ad hoc reporting tools, and advanced features, such as branching logic, file uploading, and calculated fields.

Start a Project in 3 Steps
  1. Start on the Dev system (create, develop, test) - must be on VPN
    • To request VPN access, please have your supervisor contact the ETSS Help Desk ent.servicedesk@ri.gov indicating the need to access the State of Rhode Island VPN. 
  2. Then, complete this form to move your project from Dev --> Prod
    • For logging purposes only
    • Projects are typically moved within 4 hours of a request
  3. Access your project on the Prod system (test, collect data, basic changes)
    • Then, test the project one more time (some features do not pull over from Dev)
    • After you are finished testing, go to "Project Setup", scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Move project to production"
    • When your project is in "Production Status" in the "Production Environment", data collection can begin
    • To make changes while in Production, click "Draft Mode" in "Designer". After you make changes, click "Submit Changes". Changes that could affect existing data must be approved by a REDCap Administrator. Please send a message to Andrew, Brian, or Dylan if your changes are urgent or you haven't heard back quickly.
